The upcoming addition of the Dynamax mechanic to Pokémon Go has been somewhat of an open secret, and now we get our first look at what some of the elements will look like in the game.
Pokémon Go fans have been digging into the files of the popular mobile game to find visuals of the upcoming Dynamax system, which also offer clues as to how to obtain Dynamax Pokémon.
For the first time since Pokémon Go launched way back in 2016, new locations, currently labeled as “stations,” will appear on the game’s world map. It looks like these gym-like structures will host raids for Dynamax Pokémon.
A list of Dynamax Moves that will be added to Dynamax Pokémon has also been discovered, such as “Max Flare,” “Max Knuckle,” and “Max Ooze.”

Last month, Pokémon Go developer Niantic announced that it would be adding Gen 8’s revolutionary Dynamax mechanic in the not-too-distant future.
This year's anniversary image for the game, which often hints at future (sometimes distant) features, shows a Dynamaxed Wartortle alongside the trio of Generation VIII starter Pokémon: Grooky, Scorbunny, and Sobble.
Pokémon Go fans have been patiently awaiting the arrival of most of the Generation VIII Pokémon in the game, after Generation Sword and Shield were largely skipped to focus on the more timely Generation 9.
“We’ve definitely been thinking a lot about Gen 8 for a while now at Pokémon Go,” Pokémon Go director Michael Steranka told me last month. “There’s nothing to share right now in terms of timing or launch strategy, but something we always try to do is pay homage to the source material and do the right thing for that source material.
“Please know that as the team thinks about Generation VIII Pokémon, they also think about Galar, they think about what makes those Pokémon special, and when it’s time for them to debut in Pokémon Go, it will make sense.”
