Google will make it easier for parents to manage their children's spending

With the advancements that payment technology has made in the past few years, parents want it to be easier for their children to ask permission to buy something. Fortunately, Google seems to have something in the works. In 2025, the company plans to let kids add their parents' cards to Google Wallet, allowing them to use contactless payments with added parental controls.

As 9to5Google reported, Google is working on a way for kids to download the Wallet app through Family Link. Once downloaded, a child can usually use the app to make contactless payments using the card.

There are some restrictions to help parents control their children's spending. First, kids can't add a card to their wallet without getting parental permission first. Once the card is added, a guardian can monitor how their child uses it and can remove it if they are concerned about what they see. Additionally, cards in Google Wallet cannot be used to make online purchases, so they are limited to contactless transfers only.

The technology has already appeared on the Fitbit Ace LTE, and Google noted that it has received positive reviews from parents. However, the company will need more time for the same features to work on Google Wallet. As such, you'll likely see this feature arrive sometime in 2025.
