A profile for Final Fantasy 16 has been spotted in Nvidia's latest driver, raising speculation that a PC release may be imminent.

Nvidia just released its latest driver, 560.81, and users on reddit have pointed out that it includes game-ready driver profiles for both Final Fantasy 16 and Once Human (thanks PC Gamer), even though they aren’t in the official release notes. There’s also talk of a Final Fantasy 16 demo.

Square Enix has already announced that a port of the PS5 exclusive Final Fantasy 16 is on the way, but no release window has been revealed.

The Nvidia update has thus led to speculation that its release could be imminent. The graphics card maker works closely with game developers to ensure that games run smoothly on its cards, often releasing driver updates ahead of release dates.

Also, given that Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida will be attending Gamescom this year (albeit to celebrate the release of the Final Fantasy 14 expansion Dawntrail), could an announcement be made then?

Square Enix released a demo for Final Fantasy 16 ahead of its release, so it looks like they'll be taking the same approach for PC. This seems to be the standard, with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth getting the same treatment.

Back in March, Yoshida stated that the PC version of Final Fantasy 16 was in the “final stages of optimization.”

Yesterday, Square Enix released its latest earnings report, which showed an overall decline in net sales year-over-year. The release of Final Fantasy 16 on PC would not only boost its next quarter (if it were to come out then), but it would exemplify its new multi-platform strategy.
