Most of Arcane’s second and final season has leaked online, three months ahead of its planned November launch.
Five episodes, along with many others from other Netflix animated series such as Terminator Zero, Dandadan and Ranma 1/2, have been released on social media and are now being shared on torrent sites.
It’s a blow to a brilliant series that’s been nearly a decade in the making: six years for its initial season, which debuted to unanimous praise in 2021, and then another three years to develop its second season in November.
On Arcane’s main reddit, which has 200,000 subscribers, moderators are debating whether to shut down the forum entirely until November to stem the spread of leaks and ensure fans who want to wait aren’t spoiled.
Anime News Network reports that the leaked episodes are of low quality and include watermarks stating that they are for Netflix internal use only. It is unclear how the various episodes were leaked, and Eurogamer has reached out to Netflix for more details.
Arcane is of course the brilliant animated series based on the League of Legends characters, created for Netflix by Riot Games and the talented French animation studio Fortiche.
Back in June, Netflix and Riot Games confirmed that Arcane’s long-awaited second season would be its last, but would continue a “broader narrative journey” based on other tales from the same world.
