Activision Bans Over 65,000 Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 Cheaters

Activision has banned over 65,000 players from Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

The bans were introduced in the last few hours, kicking thousands of players who were “cheating and boosting” from both ranked and unranked play.

“The Ricochet Anti-Cheat team has cleaned up ranked leaderboards in both Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare 3, banning accounts for cheating and boosting,” said Team Ricochet, the team responsible for enforcing cheating rules.

“Team Ricochet has ramped up enforcement of cheat vendor rules, resulting in over 65,000 accounts being banned across ranked and unranked modes in Warzone and MW3 this week.

“The team will continue to monitor and penalize anyone cheating or boosting in all game modes.”

If that seems like a lot, it really isn't, given the size of the Call of Duty player base. As one commenter said in response to the tweet above, “65k accounts seems so small… I just have a feeling there are a lot more…”

ICYMI, last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is now available on Xbox Game Pass.

Game Pass subscribers will have access to all of Modern Warfare 3’s modes, including the single-player campaign, multiplayer, and open-world Zombies. It’s only the second Activision Blizzard title to hit Game Pass since Microsoft acquired the company for $69 billion last year, with Diablo 4 launching for the subscription service in March. It’s not the only Activision title announced for Game Pass, of course; this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available to subscribers when it launches on October 24.

Black Ops 6 will host a multiplayer open beta in September, with early access eligible players (including Game Pass subscribers) getting a week’s early access.
